Vaginal sensitivity: after hysterectomy, there is decreased estrogen hormone levels. This hormone normally maintains the vaginal lining. When it is diminished, the lining is friable (thin and unprotected). It can bleed from the friction of intercourse. Infection can also make the vagina friable: bacterial vaginosis from the changed acid-base balance (pH), yeast, trichomonas. Also urinary bleeding can be mistaken.
