It Depends: A Chest CTA with contrast is a CT Scan specifically designed to evaluate pulmonary vessels and is the gold standard for diagnosing a Pulmonary Embolism (PE). It very unlikely, but rarely possible to miss a very small/early pulmonary embolism. However a Chest CT with contrast is not specifically designed to evaluate pulmonary vessels or diagnose a PE, so can miss one.

Yes. : But they are pretty good. And most embolisms that would be missed would be pretty small. Why do you think you have one ?
