Wet cough mostly at night. occurs suddenly and not gradually. can hardly breathe and a lot of slime coughed up but dont have sinus problems.

Night cough: Even though you may not be aware of sinus issue may have some so would check out sinus films as may be post nasal drip- could try antihistamine like benadryl before bed for a few days( 3-5) . Can also be from reflux/ GERD could try ranitidine / Prevacid and elevating head of bed by placing pillow under mattress and seeing if helps. May also be cardiac - usually have history. f/u/ w/ doc
