Neck, shoulder: I'm concerned that there may be a disk problem or spur in the neck vertebrae causing neck pain radiating to the shoulder and the shoulder joint itself is not the problem. A plain neck xray may show a vertebral spur, but an MRI of the neck is needed to demonstrate a bulging or ruptured intervertebral disc. A neurologist, neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon can evaluate and advise you about options.
