A member asked:

I am 20 weeks pregnant and have a horrible sore throat. i gargled with hydrogen peroxide without diluting. will this hurt my baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can examine: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or flu (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies, irritants, stomach acid reflux, etc... Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly. Gargling one time with drugstore hydrogen peroxide should have no effect on one's fetus.
