Go On Child's Age: Tylenol (acetaminophen) (15 mg/kg) or Ibuprofen (10 mg/kg) can be used in all ages for short periods of times w/ correct dosing. In children above 1 year old consider honey (esp before sleep). First generation antihistamines (chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine) can be considered in older children if sore throat is thought related to posterior nasal drainage.
