A member asked:

How likely is it to have liver disease if liver function tests are normal? getting scan next week, but told highly unlikely. history of alcohol abuse.

Unlikely: If the liver enzymes are normal then severe liver disease is unlikely. It is not impossible that some liver disease has occurred but having normal enzymes is good. The scan will be more definitive.

Unlikely: Liver function studies can be normal in advanced disease but otherwise they should be elevated.
