I have been told that in biliary colic the gallstone temporarily blocks the bile duct. I have had 3 to 4 episodes of biliary colic before my GB was removed that had stones. Will those 4 episodes of biliary colic cause liver cirrhosis in the future?
I'm concerned: Does having a gallstone in the bile duct mean that period of cholestasis will inevitably cause liver cirrhosis in the future despite the stone already removed?
I'm 48 and had a gallstone stuck in the bile duct which got recently removed and I'm now free of all symptoms. The removal of duct stone essentially cures the acute or chronic cholestasis and prevents any permanent damage to the liver, right?
Will 25 days of common bile duct obstruction from a gallstone cause scarring of the liver? The stone is removed, bile flow restored, but will those 25 days of obstruction prior to treatment result in scarring of the liver?
