Normal cea and ca 19-9. how valuable is that in ruling out pancreatic and colon cancer in older people?

Not useful: CEA and CA19-9 are tumor markers that can be useful in following the progression or response of a known tumor. Neither is useful as a diagnostic test or to rule out a cancer.
