Be careful: A1c is a 3 month average so a 5.3 is normal but your fasting glucose is in the diabetes range the last two weeks. If this continues for 3 month, your a1c will not be 5.3 anymore and coukd be higher than 6.5%. Watch your sugar and carbohydrate intake. Increase water and physical activity. Be sure to recheck a1c in 3 months. Good luck.

Diabetic control: Hgb A1c takes weeks to change. Are you less vigilant about your diet recently? If not you may need medication or dose change. Your physician or endocrinologist, who knows you well, is best qualified to advise you about this matter. A dietician can be helpful in dietary and your ideal weight instructions.

A1c: Keep monitoring. Your A1C is great and that is a window of your past 3 months of glucose control. Let your doctor know if persistent elevated fasting blood sugars. Do you have fever or any signs of sickness?UTI possible.
