Safe, effective: "Cheesy" vaginal discharge indeed could be due to yeast infection. Fluconazole is safe in pregnancy. Your Ob would not have recommended it if it weren't safe. Check with her if you remain concerned or in doubt.

Probably: there are conflicting data about high dose fluconazole ( 400-800mg) in the first trimester, not at 27 weeks, many recommend topical preparations, however if it's prescribed by your obstetrician, then follow his / her advice, and second opinion is your right still, wish you a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby
