Newborn constipation: Infant constipation is not common. Yet, your baby might have infant constipation if he or she has hard or pellet-like bowel movements and it appears difficult to pass. They do not have to have a certain number of bowel movements per day. If your newborn seems constipated, it is best to contact his or her doctor for advice. The normal amount of bowel varies depending on diet and age.
