i am 24 years old, i have only had 1 small bowel movement yesterday but have been constipated for 4 days. should i take some milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) now?

Safe, may work: but if not, no need to go to ER for simple constipation unless you are in pain. You may want to consider Miralax (polyethylene glycol) as a laxative.
