This is tricky to : Answer without all the information. Focal metaplasia is typically distinguished between environmental and autoimmune causes based on the pathology. Sometimes H. Pylori is diagnosed even with negative test results. Sounds like you need to get back in touch with your gastroenterologist to discuss.

Last yr EGD found chronic, h pylori-neg gastritis confined to antrum. Since then eliminated all NSAIDs. No alcohol for 2 years. Now stool is FOBT+. Any idea why the gastritis might be getting worse?
EGD showed gastropathy.Started on PPI &Carafate. 6months later EGD shows diffuse non-erosive gastritis.No known cause.Meds not working?Also have lupus
EGD shows mild reactive gastropathy, but I don't drink (quit or 4 years ago) or take NSAIDs. Neg. for H. pylori. What else could cause this?
Repeat EGD over past yr keeps showing reactive gastropathy in stomach. WHAT could be cause if no NSAIDs, caffeine, or spicy foods? Meds don't help.
