Bleeding gums: In a 21 month old usually signify bacterial infection or systemic disease. Your child should have been seeing Dentist, preferably Pediatric Dental Specialist, since Age 1 who will have established a base line. Call for immediate appointment. If gum problem not of Dental Origin, Dentist will refer you to your child's Pediatric Dental Specialist for further evaluation. Please seek immediate Rx.

Common sense: In a 21 month old child, any unusual symptoms either from a dental or medical cause warrants immediate phone call and examination with a health care professional! Is the area of concern only around one tooth or generally throughout the mouth? Regardless, he should be seen immediately by both a Pediatric Dentist and a Pediatrician for an evaluation! Don't waste time with the internet, call Dr's !
