Tubal pregnancy: The levels of HCG in tubal or other "ectopic" locations for a pregnancy are much lower than the levels in an intrauterine pregnancy, which explains why home pregnancy tests are sometimes negative. It is very important to check the HCG levels by a serum test to make sure the pregnancy is gone. See your ob/gyn provider for an exam to be certain.
