Not really: One small study done in brazil (where cocnut oil is a big industry) suggested that it may have some benefit in weight loss. That is hardly scientific and should not be relied upon. In addition, as coconunt oil is high in saturated fat, it may contribute to heart disease so you should limit your intake. However, it is better than trans-fats for baking purposes.
