Until you die from-: -some other cause. Good control means normal uric acid levels. The one kicker is that with the first bout, there can already cause some permanent damage to articular cartilage which may cause pain & perhaps the need for surgery.

Long life: Controlled gout typically does not shorten your normal life expectancy. Make sure that your blood pressure is controlled also.
