Absolutely: Diets have little benefit except limitation of alcohol intake. You need to be on Allopurinol to lower your serum uric acid below 6 mg/dl. Colcrys should also be used initially to prevent attacks until the serum uric acid is in the proper range.That will usually prevent future attacks. If these steps are not taken, the attacks generally become more severe and other medical issues can occur.
