A member asked:

Is there exercises my husband can do to help get his voice back to normal after being on a ventilator for 12 days ent says no damage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vocal cord recovery.: If there’s no damage to the vocal cords, then that’s a great first step. They’re likely inflamed, and therefore thickened, and therefore not vibrating adequately to allow for proper phonation. With passage of time, inflammation should subside. May actually be more helpful for him to talk minimally than to actually “exercise” the vocal cords.
