Clear goals should be set prior to surgery as to what to expect following surgery, specifically residual pain and loss of function should be addressed. See below: Saying something can be fixed is not the same as saying it should be fixed. There are multiple issues, but probably the most important are your current level of symptoms and function, and a specific diagnosis for what is causing any problems you may be having. If you have a nonunion of a clavicle fracture, that is pretty simple to fix. If it is healed, but still hurting, that can be complicated
