Mental test needed: Confusion in a young man should be evaluated with formal testing by a health care professional (neurologist, psychologist). It could be related to an exposure but it could also be a sign of a brain infection, injury, or damage of some sort (blood vessels or toxic exposure).

Confusion: is extremely concerning in a young man or child. The tests should include brain scanning and a thorough neurologic exam by a specialist, as well as metabolic tests such as chemical tests for diabetes and other imbalances. Don't let this be passed off as an infection. There really are no antivirals for inner ear infection, btw. And antibacterials would not help an inner ear infection.
