About specialists...: The first doctor to see is one's primary care doctor. The next one would be an ophthalmologist, which is a medical doctor specializing in eye disorders. An ophthalmologist is the one to see in this case, not an optometrist nor optician. If still not resolved, one can see a neurologist and also an ENT doctor (ENT = otorhinolaryngologist). By then, one should have an answer to the pain.
