Varies: There can be a number of reasons that an ekg can be "inconsistent". First, if your cardiac condition varies then the keg findings can vary; second, there can be variations in the placement of the leads by the technician that can sometimes make ekgs appear different; also, if different people are reading the ekgs it may be interpreted differently. Echocardiogram may be helpful in athletes as well
