Keep it elevated: Keep the affected part elevated whenever feasible. Try to keep the affected raised at night. It should subside with time. If three weeks later, it is not improving, it would be time to see your doctor. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Post fracture edema.: No not necessarily. It might make you feel better if you call your doctor and see if there is anything that you can do to help with the swelling and also reduce pain.
