36-48 Hours : As a general rule, fevers from a bacteria infectious source should start to trend downwards within 1 to 2 days. A reassessment of the condition, change or addition of another antibiotic may be considered at that point. Many things can cause fevers except bacteria & that possibility must be considered. Sometime more that antibiotics is needed such as a drainage.
