A member asked:

My mom was diagonised of acute infarct in the pons, she can neither sit, walk, talk nor swallow well.what treatment can she have?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bad news: Pons is a very critical part of the brain that keeps us mobile and functional. Infarction(usually due to a stroke) means a severe damage(near dead brain cells) which rarely recovers leaving a person like brain dead. Unfortunately there is no good treatment for it. Palliative care(home hospice) is all that one can do in order to keep her comfortable.
