Hello. i have been prescribed hctz for about 10 years now. but, now i can not afford to go in to see my doctor for refills. i am swollen and in pain...everywhere! what can i do to relieve this retention?

Fluid retention: If you are just retaining fluid it should not be painful. You may have an inflammatory disorder that needs further diagnosis. Retention from kidney disease is soft and painless. Diuretics should not be used for inflammation they will cause electrolyte imbalance and other problems plus they will not help much. Please consult a nurse practitioner in your area they are more affordable.
