My a1c was 4.0 and my doctor said to exercise and diet would bring my blood sugars up. he also said my b-12 was low and wants to start monthly shots.

Who's worrying?: Get another opinion. Who wants their blood sugar UP if they are not having symptoms? If your B12 is low due to pernicious anemia, monthly injections will save you form a horrible death preceded by brain damage -- but a suitable workup is worth performing first (do you have malabsorption? a fish tapeworm? ill-advised vegetarianism?) I'd get a second opinion, if just for better communication
