A member asked:

How likely is it to catch hepatitis or hiv from dental tools at a dentist's office in a large city ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: Between today's standard sterilization techniques (universal precautions), and the fact that HIV virus does not survive in saliva, the chances are extremely low. I do not know of even one case being attributed to visiting a dental office.
