Probably not: Oral mucosa is lubricated with saliva which will prevent any friction. Are the new dentures dramatically different from your old denture? Your bite, the thickness and extension of the flange, and the vertical dimension may be stressing the muscle when you speak and chew. Many patients are seen for three or four post insertion adjustments until the prosthesis settles in. Call your dentist.

Since your Dentist: checked and found no issues, give it two weeks and if the swelling doesn't go down or if it's getting worse see him or her again.
