Maxillary torus: If it has been there your whole life, not to worry. Very common benign bony growth.Typically stops growing by mid-20's.May also have ones on inside of lower jaw (mandibular tori). Most bothersome when taking x-ray images and when eating crusty, hard breads, crackers, chips, etc. If upper denture, there must be special attention paid to relieving this contact area to prevent pain and rocking. Good Luck.

Torus: Many people have a harmless boney lump in the middle of the hard palate called a torus. Many people are not aware of this until a new dentist asks about it. This should be part of your dental record. However if this is something new, then it should be evaluated by an oral surgeon to find out what it is.
