Dentist tooth scaling , water comes out of the scaler . i want to know is it important to clean the inside of the water pipe system between patients ? . my dentist say all you need is to change the tip of scaler and not worry about the water pipes

I Remember: the day my father got the first Ultrasonic cleaner in his office. I grew up and practiced dentistry going on 52 years. I have never heard of anyone contracting any disease due to the water pipes in a dental office. Water is chlorinated to kill any germs, so as long as your dentist is sterilizing his tips, you are safe.

The water: flows much too quickly and interchange is much too rapid to foster the development of micro-organisms which are significant. Those bacteria which do "inhabit" those pipes are NOT human pathogens! NOT TO WORRY! Hope this is helpful Dr Z

Dentist autoclaved tooth scaler tip attached with the handle , there was another rubber piece that was separate in the sterilisation pouch no need to worry if tooth scaler tip was attached with handle ? Pouch also changed colour from blue to green
After how many days/weeks/months of wisdom tooth extraction can I go for scaling/root planning? I have a loose wisdom tooth. Dentist asked to remove it first. But I am concerned if it will be safe to clean so soon after removal?
