A member asked:

I have a good diet (veggies, no pasta/rice) & exercise, yet ldl is 151 (hdl is 66, trig is 91). what else can i do without resorting to statins?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not much: if you have minimized intake of animal fats. Much of the lipid abnormalities are genetic. Depending on other risk factors, such as family history of heart/vascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, smoking, and obesity, you would probably benefit from statins. Ask your doctor for specific advice regarding choice of med and dosage.
