The ankle needs to be properly evaluated and part of the evaluation is to determine the exact nature and cause of the trauma, the so called mechanism of injury. There will undoubtedly be some extensive imagery taken to assess the degree of damage of the involved tissue. You need the expertise of an experienced ankle surgeon and that is the most important component of the fix.
