I have a large bruise on my lower leg that gets darker and more painful when i stand but decreases when the leg is elevated. i do have varicose vein issues. the bruise is now 2 weeks old and getting g worse not better ?

Venous return.: It would seem that your condition and symptoms are related to venous pressure. Standing slows the return, therefore the color intensifies. Elevation assists the return, therefore, the color fades. You need to see a vein specialist to see if there is an associated vessel problem or is the problem due to trauma.

See Vascular Surgery: With your known history of varicose veins and the pattern described you need a more detailed evaluation. Varicose veins are very common but occasionally people have other abnormalities of their venous system that can include acquired and even hereditary processes. This includes vascular malformations. A good history and physical examination, and some diagnostic imaging will be necessary.
