Varicose Vein: What you are describing sounds as if you have developed a superficial thrombophlebitis. What this means is that a clot ahs developed inside the vein. These are not dangerous but can be very painful. There are lots of good treatments for varicose veins and I suggest finding a specialist in your area to get your veins treated.

Superficial clot.: What you appear to be describing is called superficial thrombophlebitis or a clot in a varicose vein which is a superficial vein. Usually the varicose vein get hard, warm and tender due to the blood in the vein clotting. You should see a vein specialist for a venous evaluation. A venous ultrasound may be indicated and the usual treatment is warm compresses and ibuprofen.
