Consult your doctor: Some physician may have their patients slowly wean off one medication, allowing a washout period before starting a new anti-depressant. Other's may choose to wean down one medication while titrating up the other medication. Gradual dose reduction over days to weeks reduces the risk and severity of complications. All antidepressant switches must be carried out cautiously and under close observation

Good question: The physician who prescribed Cymbalta should be able to tell you the procedure to change over. Ordinarily the taper dose is gradual. The physician will outline how to quit the Cymbalta slowly while adding a dose of Prozac slowly as appropriate.
