No: Most important is to avoid casual use of antibiotics. Use antibiotics only when clearly indicated and no longer than necessary. Also try to avoid the worst, such as clindamycin, amoxicillin, ampicillin, ciprofloxins. Doxycycline, minocycline, sulfasalazine, metronidazole are much less likely to cause C. Diff. Try to save vanco for serious indications to reduce emergence of resistant bacteria.

Not for prevention. : We would never recommend the use of an antibiotic, especially not vancomycin, for the prevention of an infection. That being said, your recurrent episodes require investigation and treatment. Have you been offered fecal transplant?
