Vancomycin???: Vancomycin is an unusual choice of drugs for acute prostatitis. It treats only staph, which isn't usually the cause. When hospitalization is required, we usually use IV gentamicin plus either ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, or Ciprofloxacin until it's possible to switch to oral medications, were you receiving any other antibiotics as well?
