Yes Vancomycin: absorbs just fine if you give it IV. For Strep pneumo infection depending on the site, Vancomycin and Levaquin (levofloxacin) would be more than enough. Though Strep pneumo is encapsulated organism and therefore can be resistant to many antibiotics, this combination should reduce that chance to very small. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.
