Depends :: Yourr TSH suggests early mild hypothyroidism. This may be primary or secondary to autoimmune thyroiditis ( Hashimoto's thyoiditis, ) I suggest that your PCP order tests for Hashimotos": Anti-thyroid antibodies and anti- thyroid globulin levels. Usually these conditions DO require lifelong medication.
