A member asked:

I have hypothyroidism, but am taking synthroid (thyroxine) to keep my tsh in the "normal range." should my alp also be in the normal range now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No correlation: If you're keeping your TSH not just in the normal range, but the appropriate range for your age (somewhere from 0.5 to about 2.0 or less) then keep the same dose. If other lab isn't normal, it has nothing to do with your thyroid and is due to some other medical problem you and your doctor need to evaluate.
