No problem, no worry: In fact, there is no problem with alcohol and metronidazole. That theoretical problem has been shown to not exist -- it's a persisting medical myth. Of course don't overdo it, but the occasional drink won't be a problem. There are no significant dietary restrictions for people taking metronidazole. I've never heard of a soy sauce problem.

Should be OK: Flagyl (metronidazole) has a very nasty drug interaction with ethyl alcohol (the drinking kind) in which it converts it into formaldehyde. So you will be speeding up your autopsy by the pathologist. There are medicines which contain alcohol and foods too, so check carefully!
