I am 16. i have had a swollen left ankle for 5ys. it comes and goes but i have noticed that when i drink water it swells up even more. x ray was clear?

Swollen ankle. : Was there ever any trauma to this ankle? Did you land on it wrong after a jump when you were a kid, for example? I'd think an X-ray would not suffice to diagnose this properly. An MRI may be useful for imaging pathology in the ankle.
