Neurogenic pain.: Sharp, shocky type pain located in and around the toes are almost always due to a nerve being irritated. The goal is to identify the exact location of the irritation and eliminate it. The cause could be underlying bone or cyst causing irritation to the nerve and the irritation has reached the point that pain is caused for protection. Seeing a specialist is the first step toward relief.
