X Rays: This could be a toe joint sprain but it is important to rule out an underlying fracture. Please see your GP who can examine your foot and arrange an XRay for you if needed.

Neuroma?: Could develop around that area if the tendon sheath(coating) becomes inflamed. These may improve with supportive padding. Agree see your doctor for an examination and/or X-ray if needed to exclude other bone problems

Why does your toe : Click? Often times limited range of motion is called a hallux limitis. X-rays would need to be seen for better help.
