Yes: Fever is a body's response to an infection in the body. Although the abscess has been drained, the infective process can take a while to subside. If the fever persists for more than 24 hrs see a doctor again to ensure you don't need antibiotics

Yes : Yes some fever is normal afterwards, a large area of infection was pressurized during the drainage process to decompress it. The only concern is that the abscess needs to be completely drained and no areas of loculation / induration should be left. I recommend naproxen/Aleve 500 bid and do a 3 day follow up. ER if high fever and spreading redness. Should have a wick to keep draining. Good luck.
