Is it normal to have bad shakes but no fever with an abscess? my temp has been only 97 or 96?

Yes: If you have an active abscess that has not been drained you can get chills / shakes without having a fever. If you let it go the fever will probably develop. Get the abscess checked and drained or antibiotics prescribed ASAP.
