No, it is not normal: Abscesses can occur in scarlet fever, in particular abscesses of the tonsils and/or lungs. Multiple abscesses have been reported in cases of scarlet fever, but this was prior to the availability of antibiotics. If you have scarlet fever, you should be on an antibiotic that kills Strep germs. Talk to the healthcare provider treating the scarlet fever. You may need surgical or medical treatment.
